Workshop:  Embrace The Difference –  A Journey into Diversity

We are extremely fortunate to have such a wonderful multi-cultural diverse population that exists in our society. In my opinion we must utilize the tremendous resources that are available to us and explore the many possibilities that exist for diversity educational opportunities for our children. We need to ask ourselves if we are doing enough to instill in the children a sense of pride in who they are, where they have been and what they can accomplish. This process is paramount not only for the children’s growth and development but for the future of our society.

In NAEYC’s position statement “Responding to Linguistic and Cultural Diversity” they indicate that it is important for teachers “to have the skills and understanding to recognize that all children are cognitively, linguistically, and emotionally connected to the language and culture of their home; this understanding should be manifested in their training and practice. “ This training will also address EEC recommended diversity practices to incorporate into your Center.

CHTS has developed an interactive Diversity Workshop called “Embrace The Difference” that addresses these and other diversity issues that teachers experience in the classroom.

It is my belief that one day through education and an increased awareness of our diversity; we can all co-exist in a friendly more tolerant world. A world where ignorance can be replaced with understanding and hate can be replaced with love.

06/15/10 (Wednesday)  We will be conducting a First Aid Class to be held at The Arbors Kids (999 Memorial Drive) in Chicopee, MA. The class will be held from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Please register using the registration form that is on this web site.
